I was sent a copy of the Bra Book by Jene Luciani. Flipping through and reading I was enlightened by many tips on finding the correct bra size. This is the complete guide to the bra, seriously.
For most girls, bras are a major source of frustration. Whether you’re small-breasted, large-breasted, or somewhere in between, it’s hard to find one that not only fits right, but also looks great on you. Eighty-five percent of women are wearing the wrong bra—but this book teaches you that you don’t have to be one of those girls. The Bra Book will arm you with the knowledge you need to find the best bra for you—the bra that makes you feel supported, confident, and sexy, no matter what you wear on top of it.
I am excited to announce that I am giving away 1 copy of the Bra Book to a lucky Polished Sense Reader!
All you have to do is leave a comment and share a bra story of yours or why you would love this book. The winner will be announced Wednesday May 5th! Good Luck.

The first time I went bra shopping – my dad took me! We agree to stay at least one rack away from each other (I didn’t want people to know that I was with my dad – I was 11). One of the sales ladies apparently noticed our obvious seperation and asked my father if I had ever been fitted. I then heard my father’s voice yelling across the store at me, “The saleswoman would like to know if you’ve been fitted, I’ll bet she can find you a real bra”, I’d been wearing a training bra up til then. It was quite traumatic. In fact, so much so that I didn’t go for another fitting for 10 years. I could have definitely used a book like this!

i would love to have this book! I love my boobs…they are a 32 D but the thing is, i am petit everywhere else on my body…including the distance from the my hsoulders to the top of my breasts. so the straps are always too long on me and i have to make the go the shortest they go…but with larger breasts the straps always end up stretching!

I used to work at Victoria’s Secret, and always had to fit women for bras. Sometimes they would just open their fitting room doors without anything on and ask for help!

My mother had breast cancer twice. The first time I was 6 years old. I had no idea what it was, my sister and I asked the most absurd questions, “is that like Aids?”. The second time around I was 11, and I understood completely. This time she had a double mastectomy, and everyday since then she has struggled to feel confident in her new body. She grew up having the best boobs around, no one could match her DD’s. They were beautiful. My mother hides her anxiety about her body through helping others. She started a group for girls in the inner city school districts to make sure they grow up to be wonderful woman. She is the best friend I could ever ask for. I work at a bra store, and I’ve tried to help her feel good about herself, but she feels good about herself by helping others. I think she’d love this book, because she truly is on the mission to find the perfect bra, one that makes her feel sexy again. One that makes her feel as good as she can make other people feel.
I love my mom, and I love this book.

I’m very interested in what I could learn from this book. I make custom bras but I still find it hard to find a good bra in the stores. Also I’d like to use it to help others!

My interest with bras started about 10 years ago when reading an old friend’s web log complaining about how hard it was to get 32DD bras. Then that page turned into a forum where lots of other women joined and I learned more and more about breast, bras, bra issues, fitting headaches and my fascination started. Since then I’ve bought several bra books every time I could (I live in South America so I bought them on-line on occasional trips to US).
Among those books I’ve read “The Breast Book”, ‘Dr Susan loves breast book’ ‘Breast a women’s perception on American obsession’, ‘boobs our most public private parts’ ‘stacked 32ddd reports from the front’ ‘The history of breasts’ ‘The history of underwear’ ‘defining your own success, breast feeding after breast reduction’, ‘Your breasts, an owners manual’, ‘Uplift the bra in America’, ‘master breasts’. ‘breast book’, and a ton others.
Later on in 2007 I started to write http://Bratabase.com with the aim of helping women figure which bra to get given that there is no standard in bra sizing. Although I had the site ready in mid 2007 it never went public until Nov 2009 and not it’s close to having 700 users and 380 bras registered (it’s not a lot I know but it’s just starting). I am currently working on improving the site based on feedback I get from collaborators.
Where I live there’s absolutely no bra culture and I’m trying to change that by telling all my friends bra fitting tips every chance I got so they know what to ask for when buying bras and knowing they don’t have to put up with the current selection.
I would love this book because every insight I have to learn more about bras helps me improve the site and hopefully help women who use the site

I had no idea this book existed. It’s so great! So many of us don’t wear the right bra size. I’m sure this book will help us, plenty.
